WE HAVE BEEN AT WAR SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING. It spread through the galaxies like a plague, consuming star system after star system — they call it the Scourge. At the forefront of the Scourge are two species built from the bones of an old race known as the Achilos, who were like wolf and man, and nigh-eternal. On one side of the war are the Ulfr — tall, and strong, and proud. On the opposing side are the Vargr — lithe, and wise, and ruthless. Both have populated their ranks with clones of the forefathers, that they call Achilobito, altered to survive the conditions of their war. The clones are smart. They learn. They survive. They are not, by any measure or design, people. But where would our story be if that had remained true?
